The Youth of Don Bosco Centre for Learning, Kurla will be organizing the ‘Don Dosco’ Challenge Cup an (8-a-side) football tournament, at the Don Bosco ground, Kurla starting from Sunday, February 14 to March 13, 2016. The month-long tournament is dedicated to the Seven Student ‘Gone too Soon’, who died in the Hotel City Kinara tragedy, which claimed eight victims in October last year. It may be recalled that seven students from the Don Bosco Institution, Taha Shaikh, Sharjeel Shaikh, Akash Thapar, Brian Fernando, Sajid Chaudhary, Irvin D’Souza and Bernadette D’Souza had perished in that tragic blaze.
The organizers have restricted entries to the first 16 teams, from the MDFA Elite, Super and First Divisions on a first come first serve basis. This will be a knockout tournament and each match will be played over 50 minutes, of two halves of 25 minutes each. The matches will be played only on Sunday’s and the final is slated for March 13.
The tournament offers a total prize pool of approximately Rs 70,000 and trophies.
