Singapore Film Festival in Mumbai


Movie buffs just lap up world cinema. Just concluded Cannes International Film Festival’s grand success says it all. Film makers and movie aficionados were part of the red carpet and jury awarded Palme d’Or to a The Square directed by Ruben Ostlund. Non-competitive section saw many movies including our very own National Award winning Marathi film Dashkriya which was well received.7 Letters film

 

Every country takes interest in promoting their culture, trade, etc. through Film Festival. In the recent past Mumbai witnessed quite a few film festivals viz. Japanese, European, Korean, Canadian and Quebec to name a few. All were well patronised especially Korean. It’s alleged that since a variety of novel subjects are handled in these film the indian film makers are ‘inspired’ by Korean films.

 

Now, the Latest Film festival in the city will be  Singapore Film Festival, which is organised by Singapore Consulate-General during the period 31st May through 1st June 2017. The two main films will be ‘The Return’  which is a philosophical take on political imprisonment and ‘7 Letters’, which is an emotive anthology of seven of Singapore’s most illustrious film makers celebrating Singapore’s 50 years of Independence through the lives and stories of Singaporeans!
