Sindhu bags first Silver for India after a great show in badminton


India’s new Badminton Shuttle Queen PV Sindhu could not win Gold, but the way she played in the finals of Women’s badminton at Rio Olympics, won the hearts of badminton lovers. Before the start of this match, there were big expectations from young Sindhu and she did make her admirers happy, winning the first game at 21-19. It was a difficult task to reduce the margin of three to four points retained by her Spanish opponent and top seed Carolina Marin. But, a great fighter that she is, Sindhu fought back, to take 5 crucial points to win this game, despite  being down 16-19.

The second game however belonged to Marin, who maintained a comfortable lead throughout the game, changing her game strategy to win at 21-12. In the deciding game, Sindhu did put up some resistance ; but, that was not enough to stop the attack of  top ranked Marin, who cleverly managed it with 21-15 win to grab the Gold medal. Sindhu had to satisfy with Silver medal, but its value was more than a Gold for her country.
