Simran inches closer for a double


Maharashtra’s Simran Kejriwal put up another fine dominating show while routing Gayaatri Shankar 6-0, 6-1 to enter the semifinals of the Yonex-Chembur Gymkhana All India women’s tennis tournament, hosted by Chembur Gymkhana here today. Incidentally Simran, with Varunya Chandrasekhar as partner, made the doubles semifinals as well.

So was Nida Kamal, another Maharashtra girl, who thrashed Tamil Nadu’s Avantika Sai 6-1, 6-1. She hit hard on both flanks with telling effect.  Others to join in the last four were top seeded Arthi Muniyan, who quelled the challenge of Maharashtra’s Tanasha Khandpur 7-5, 6-3 and Abi Diana who outplayed qualifier Aaryalee Chavan 6-1, 6-2 .
