The trio of Siddharth Nageshkar (in singles) and Aditya Reddy and Udit Kakadia (in doubles) played their heart out to steer Borivali’s MCF (Manpeshwar Civic Federation) to a surprise 2-0 win over fancied NSCI ‘A’ to storm into the quarterfinals of the IndusInd Bank-Motiram Cup Inter-Club Badminton tournament, hosted by Bombay Gymkhana here.

The youthful pair of Aditya and Udit had to battle hard against the experienced pair of Nikhil Mansukhani and Mayur Bhojwani before they prevailed at 21-16, 16-21, 21-17 in an almost hour-long tussle in the opening tie. Buoyed by his teammates Aditya and Udit’s fine display, Siddharth went all out in the following singles to hammer a 21-12, 21-15 win over Jai Sutharia to seal the tie, MCF next take on Cricket Club of India ‘A’ in the quarterfinals.
With Varun Majumdar continuing to be in roaring form, Matunga Gymkhana got the better of CCI ‘B’ 2-0. After Siddesh Raut and Viraj Kuwale overpowered Jawad Shaikh and Jaidev Menon 21-16, 21-16, Varun went full blast to subdue Jawad 21-8, 21-19 to clinch the tie and advance to the last four grade.
