Siddharth crosses 150 raid points


It was fine display by U Mumba’s raiders and defence as both came together to pull off a convincing win against Dabang Delhi in the 6th Vivo Pro Kabaddi League.

 

Rohit Baliyan started the proceedings with a clever toe touch after losing Fazel in the opening minute to a tackling error. In the next raid Naveen Kumar took out Surinder to lead 3-2 but Siddharth levelled the scores by picking up a raid point.

 

Surinder’s failed attempt at an advance tackle in Delhi’s do-or-die raid resulted in gifting Delhi a point. A spectacular tackle by Rohit Rana in the ninth minute gave Mumbai a 2-point lead at 6-4. Fazel got his first tackle point with an ankle hold taking out Naveen to lead 8-5. A tackle by Abhishek and Surinder and a raid by Siddharth ensured that U Mumba inflicted their 30th all-out of the season and first of this match leading 14-7 with less than a minute to go. U Mumba went into the second half with a 7-point lead at 15-8.

 

U Mumba started the second half with a bang, securing quick points and taking the second all out of the game within the third minute to lead 23-9. Surinder was in a league of his own and reached 100 tackle points in the PKL. U Mumba had a comfortable lead of 29-13 with 10 minutes to go. The game slowed down with Dabang Delhi scoring a few points in hope of closing the gap. U Mumba kept the defence tight to deny Delhi opportunities to score. With a 16-point lead at 34-18 and just 4 minutes to go U Mumba were in cruise control. U Mumba lost a few points in a row but It was too little too late for Delhi as U Mumba won the tie 39-23 and move back to the top of the Zone A.

 

Siddharth Desai scored 9 raid points from 18 raids. Rohit Baliyan scored 6 raid points from 13 raids and 2 tackle points. Fazel and Surinder managed to get 4 tackle points each.
