Mumbai Suburbs Siddhant Shankar and the Nashik girl Ridhi Kandoi scored thrilling wins over their respective opponents to advance into the third round of the Bliss Pharma-Maharashtra State Sub-junior week-end badminton tournament, which gets underway at North Indian courts at King’s Circle, here today.
Siddhant quelled the spirited challenge of Mandar Nikam before he triumphed his under-15 tie over extra points at 22-20. Ridhi, too, faced tough moments before she could overpower Thane’s Sanjana Ambekar before she was through at 22-20.
In some other well-contested ties, another mumbai suburban lad Neil Parikh put out Thane’s Shravil Goglekar 21-19, Harshavardhan Tamble of Thane, defeated Sushant Ravva 21-19 while in the girls singles,Khushi Kumarioutplayed Tanya More 21=16, andAshna Nisal prevailed over Thane’s Sanjana Ambekar 22-20.
