Junior Shaurya Pednekar produced stupendous display as he won the triple crown on the penultimate day of the MCF -All Mumbai 4-Star Ranking Table Tennis tournament, hosted by Mandpeshwar Civil Federation at their Sports Complex at here today. In the process, he knocked out the top men’s seed Mandar Hardikar in an action-packed semi finals.

Shaurya later defeated another giant- killer Shivam Das, a 15-year-old lad, in the Men’s finals, who had sent second seeded Bhavitvya Shah packing in the quarters and later got the better of another seasoned stalwart Suhas Rane in another nail-biting tie that saw the youngster prevailing at 4-3 (7-11, 11-9,7-11,9-11, 11-9,12-10,12-10).
Shaurya had already bagged the junior and youth boys singles titles.. He beat Parthav Kelkar 11-7, 7-11,11-9,11-7, 11-8 in the junior final and later overpowered Jignesh Rahatwal 12-10, 11-8, 11-9,11-6 for the youth boys title.
Ashlesha Trehan
Ashlesha Trehan , the top seed in the women’s singles, ended with a double crown. She won both the women’s as well as youth girls finals.
In the third round matches of Veterans’ 39+ singles played late in the evening, Jayant Kulkarni upset seeded Harish Shirsat in three straight games, while Suhas Rane surprised Samir Bhate 3-1 in the third round. In a well fought match of third round in Veterans’ Gurucharan Singh scored a 3-2 victory over Ram Rokade. In another third round match of Veterans’39+ Ulhas Shirke stretched Sunil Kelkar to five games, before losing the set 2-3. Ulhas had earlier defeated Tejas Naik in three straight games in 2nd round. Samir Deo took a game from Deepak Dudhane. Top seeded Kiran Salian beat Rahul Bhattacharya and Dinkar Selarka beat Praful Wagh in three straight games to move into pre quarter finals .
