Shashank blasts 79 as Shivaji Park Warriors win


Mumbai: Having hit up a century earlier in a lost cause, Shashank today hit another breathing taking 79 with  five sixes and six fours to steer Shivaji Park Warrior to a thrilling 2-run win over defending champions Ghatkopar Jets in the Mitsui Shoji t-20 League at Oval Maidan here today.

Batting first, Shivaji outfit hit up 182 for five off 20 overs. Apart fron Shashank’ blistering knock, Raunaq Sharma batted sensibly to contribute 66> in reply, the holders batted well, but fell shot by two runs. Pratmesh Pawar top-scored with 47.

In another tie, Bandra Heroes’s Opener Jiniv  Joshi played a stellar role in his side’s five wicket win over Thane Marathas. Chasing Thane side’s 154 for four, Jiniv hit up 66 as they reached the target with five wickets in hand.

Thane Marathas 154/4 (Shaban Shaikh 86, Ishaq Shaikh43) lost to Bandra Heroes 156/5 in 17 overs (Jiniv Joshi 66, Sairaj Patil 25; Sidesh Karnekar4 2/15).
