Sharveya Samant played exceptionally well at the crucial moment in the decider, while overcoming Dhiyan Shah in the quarter finals of Boys Under 14 Singles on the 3rd day of the Mumbai School Sports Association’s Inter School tournament at Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul, Vile Parle. Down 1-2 Sharveya rallied to take the fourth game over extra points to level the set score at 2-2. It was a thrilling battle between the two in the decider, which went in favour of calm and balanced Sharveya .
In the Girls Under 14 well contested Quarter final match Shravani Loke surprises favourite Sana D’souza who has already won few tournaments at the competitive level. Shravani who lost the first game over extra points, recovered quickly to win the next two games to earn 2-1 lead. In the fourth game it seemed that Shravani who led 10-6 would wrap up the match, as she was in attacking mood. But, Sana who played safely, leveled the scores at 10-10.Even at this stage she decided to play safe. However, Shravani who continued with her attack, managed the next two points to win this match 3-1 to enter semi finals.
In two other closely contested quarter final matches, Arnav Karnavar beat Neev Kapadia 3-2 in the Boys Under 16 section, while Chaitanya Ahuja beat Kunal Patel 3-2 in the Boys Under 14 group. In some other best quarter final matches of the day, Vineet Deepak beat Om Chopade 3-1, Tavanth Nerlaje beat Kathit Shah 3-1, Vedant Agrawal beat Merwyn Patel 3-1 & Harshavardhan beat Devansh Choksi 3-1 in their respective age groups.
Tomorrow’s matches will begin from 8 am onwards with Girls Under 12 Team finals followed by semi finals of other group team and individual semi finals . Finals of all individual events will be played in the afternoon at 12.30 pm.
