Himanshu Ropy who once upon a time headed the Anti Terror Squad( ATS) Maharashtra and was behind investigation of many high profile cases, committed suicide few hours ago at his home in Mumbai. He shot himself with his service revolver. He was admitted to Bombay Hospital, where he was declared dead. As per the media reports, he was battling with cancer for the past two years.
The 1988 batch IPS officer, Himanshu Roy was presently Additional Director General of Police and was on long leave due to his sickness. He had investigated many high profile murder cases and also the famous IPL spot fixing case in 2013.He still had about 7 to 8 years service left.
