Sathye boys and girls win U-19 titles


It was a memorable day for the Sathye college boys and girls as they won their respective under-19 finals in the DSO (Divisional Sports Office)’s Mumbai Suburban Inter-School table tennis tournament, organised by Vision Sports Reconnect and Fairplay Sports Management at Goregaon Sports Club here today.

However, both recorded contrasting wins. While the boys outfit was fully stretched by Mithibai with Mithibai’s Hardik Panchal  winning both his singles before the former triuimphed 3-2. The Sathye  girls squad led by state-ranked Dyuti Patki beat M.L.Dahanukar 3-1. Though , they did drop a tie, their superiority was never in doubt as Dyuti won both her singles, with consumate ease.

BOYS U-19 : Sathye bt Mithibai 3-2:  Shubham Khanolkar lost to Hardik Panchal 7-11, 4-11,7-11; Shouvik Pawar bt Tanmay Narvekar 11-7, 11-8, 11-5; Shrinath Markad bt Arman C 11-5, 11-9, 11-9; Shouvik lost to Hardik 8-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-13; Shubham bt Tanmay 8-11, 15-13, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8.

GIRLS  U-19:    Sathye bt ML Dahanukar 3-1: Tanvita Thakur bt Surbhi Pawar 11-3,11-3, 11-1;   Dyuti Patki bt Pooja Sawant 11-4, 11-5, 11-4;Anvershi Vartak lost to Rasika Sawant 2-11,11-8, 6-11, 3-11; Dyuti bt Surabhi 11-6, 11-5, 11-6.

GIRLS U-17: :St Blaise bt Utpal Shanghvi  3-1: Synoras D’Costa lost to Saloni Agarwal 10-12,11-13,11-13; Krisha Chavan bt Mahek Parekh 8-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-8; Koyna Chavan bt Vidhiti Jagwani 11-6, 11-3, 11-7; Synora bt Mahek 11-7, 11-8,11-5.

BOYS(U-14): Jamnabai Narsee bt Utpal Shanghvi  3-0: Maanav Mehta bt Jash Jobaliua 11-6, 13-11, 11-7; Dev Shroff bt Manav Shah 11-8, 11-7, 11-8; Rajveer Shah bt Shantanu Renavat 11-4, 11-8, 11-5.

GIRLS (U-14): Jamnabai Narsee bt Utpal Shanghvi 3-1: Vidhi A.  Shah bt  Vidhi P. Shah  11-5, 11-6, 11-8; Hiya Mehta lost to Mhika Rohira 6-11,9-11,11-4 ,11-7, 11-8;Maanya Bhartia lost  to Ria Talsania 10-12,6-11,5-11;Mihika Rohira bt Vidhi P Shah 11-9,11-6,11-6.
