Sarvesh, Naisha are top seeds in MIG State Open badminton


Sarvesh Yadav of Thane District and Naishaa Bhatoye of Mumbai City District are the top seeds in the boys’ and girls’ under-17 singles events in the MIG CC-Suhas Nadkarni Memorial Yonex Sunrise Maharashtra State Open Badminton Tournament 2023, organized by the MIG Cricket Club under the auspices of the Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) and to be played at the MIG CC courts and the Andheri Sports Complex courts starting from Tuesday. Nashik’s shuttler Swaraj Bhamare is the second seed in the boys’ competition while Mumbai Suburbs Ketaki Thite is seeded second in the girls draw.

In the Women’s doubles Combination 70+ category, the top seed pair is Deanne Rodrigues and Neesha Spingett, while Dipti Purohit and Priya Ambekar are the second seeds.

The duo of Ashish Khedikar and Sandeep Mohan enjoy the pride of place in both the Men’s doubles combination 80+ and Men’s doubles combination 90+ events.

Meanwhile, hosts MIG Cricket Club ‘B’ team will meet Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana in the opening Group-B inter-club team championship match on Tuesday evening at the MIG Club.

In other first round encounters, Goregaon Sports Club will face off against Jolly Gymkhana, Masters Sports Club meet Olympics Sports Center Tigers clash with Vanita Samaj.
