Sanil,Divya lead city’s top paddlers


Mumbai’s top table tennis players, representing ten franchisees, will feature in the bigger and better 2nd edition of the iProspect Mumbai Super League Table Tennis Championships, which was launched by Vita Dani Chairperson 11even Sports on Tuesday, at NSCI, the venue partner to the event.

Also present at the launch of this unique event, which carries prize money of Rs 4 lakh, was hockey legend and co-owner of Blazing Blasters, Dhanraj Pillay, Kamlesh Mehta and Monalisa Barua-Mehta, along with the sponsors and team owners. The Mumbai Super League is presented and conducted by 11even Sports, sponsored by iProspect and co- sponsored by ICICI Prudential Life Insurance under the aegis of MSDTTA and MCDTTA.

 

 

A total of 80 players, divided into 6 categories on the basis of their age categories i.e Men’s, Women’s, Jr. Boys, Jr. Girls, Cadet Boys and Veterans went under the hammer at an auction conducted by Parag Chitale and Jigar Rambhia. The best among the 80 players were picked by the owners of the ten franchisees that will feature in the iProspect Mumbai Super League.

 

Sanil Shetty emerged the highest paid players, going for 35,500 to Kool Smashers. He was followed by Omkar Tolgarkar, who was bought for Rs 32,500 by Ace. Among the women, Divya Deshpande commanded the highest prize of Rs 23,500, bought by Phantom Stars. Senhora D’Souza was the second highest, bought for Rs 21,500 by Century Warriors.

 

Among the junior girls, Srushti Halengadi and Diya Chitale were the most in demand, going for Rs 24,000 and Rs 20,500 to Blazing Bashers and High Tide respectively.

 

The winners of the iProspect Mumbai Super League will stand to gainRs. 1.5 Lakhs, with the runner-up team taking home Rs.1 Lakh and Rs. 50,000 each for the two semi-finalists. There will also be individual prizes for the overall best Men’s and Women’s player of the tournament and best player prize for each category.

 

Kool Smashers, Century Warriors, Supreme Fighters, High Tide, King Pong, Ace ,Phantom Stars, MTC Royals, Blazing Bashers & Top Spinners are the teams that will feature in the Mumbai Super League. These 10 franchisees will be divided into 2 pools of 5 each
