Salman’s hectic century brings Bandra Heroes another win


Opener Salman Ahmed hit a terrific unbeaten century (109) as Bandra Heroes defeated Thane Marathas by six wickets to continued their winning spree in the Mitsui Shoji T-20 League at Police Gymkhana ground here today. Salman hammered 11 sixes and just four fours as they chased down Thane Marathas daunting score of 182 with six wickets in hand.

Earlier, Thane Marathas put into bat, hit up 182 all out in 17 overs. While their top order batsmen hardly made any impact to Thane outfit’s contribution, it was their lower order batsman Mayur Rasula, who top scored with unbeaten 36 which saw them reaching a fighting total.

 

In reply, Bandra Heroes were in for a shock as they lost four wickets for just 70 runs on the board. It was at this stage Salman took the centrestage and went bersek, hitting both the pacers and spinners all over to steer them to victory.

 

In the other tie, defending champions Ghatkopar Jets were at the receiving end as Shivaji Park Warriors crossed the 200-mark, thanks to another fine knock of 46 by Shashank Singh, well supported by other opener Akhil Singh (38), Kalpesh Sawant (27), Kasuubh Kolamkar (w27) and unbeaten 28 by Siddant Adatrao 28.  In reply, however, they made a valiant bid, but fell shot by 47 runs.
