Sairaj Londhe, of Track & FieldMasters (Thane) and Vivek Roy, of Navy Children’s School (Colaba) were the only athletes to establish new state meet records in the 4-day India Masters Athletics’ 5-District Track & Field Championships, which concluded at the University Stadium here on Sunday. Sairaj won the 200m run in the boys under-14 in 23.57 seconds, thus bettering the existing state timing of 23.65 secs, while Vivek sprinted to 100m win in 12.91 secs to re-write the old mark of 13.0 secs.

Apart from the two state records, the meet witnessed 46 new meet records re-written with athletes from Thane were credited with 16 while Navi Mumba athletes figuring in 12 of them. Mumbai’s Sprinters Club and Achievers Sports Club too, had a fair share in the rest of them.

Incidentally, all the track events, from 100m to 1500m were dominated by the Navi Mumbai athletes. Lithsome Rosalin Lewis (100m, 200m and 400m in girls under-18), Dinadra Valladres (100m, 200m and 400m– in women) and Deepu Devanrajan (400m, 800m and 1500m – men) proved to be the outstanding performers.
