Indian Shuttle Queen Saina Nehwal, who has already made a great comeback into World Badminton, after recovering from her Knee injury had raised big expectations from Indian fans in the semi finals of the ongoing World Badminton Championship at Scotland today. But, she went down fighting against her younger Japanese opponent Nozomi Okuhara in three well contested games.
Saina looked confident in the very first game with a convincing 21-12 win over her aggressive opponent. But, the Japanese girl proved her class by taking the second game. Saina who led 3-1 in the decider, lost nine points in a row to give a comfortable 10-3 lead to her opponent. Later, she did try to recover, but Nozomi maintained a comfortable margin of lead to win the game and match at 21-10. Her loss in semi final has however has ensured Saina a Bronze medal.
In the finals, Nozomi, who had earlier defeated champion Carolina Marin from Spain, will now take on the winner of other semi finals, to be played between India’s Pursurla Sindhu and China’s Chen Yu Fei later during the day today.
