WIFA Inter-District football
Striker Sai Sankhe was in superb scoring form and notched up a fine hat-trick which powered Mumbai District to an emphatic 7-0 victory against Nashik District in a Sub-Juniors girls’ quarter-final match of the WIFA Inter-District Football Championship 2019, played at the Palghar Taluka District SA ground, Boisar.
Sai’s teammate and junior international Mehak Lobo provided Mumbai with a bright start finding the net in the very first minute. Two minutes later Sai scored the second and later hammered two more goals in the 11th and 27th minutes to complete her feat. Priyanka Sujesh scored a brace of goals in the 6th and 18th minute, while Ananya Biswas got one in the 38th minute to round off Mumbai’s winning tally.
In another quarter-final encounter, Kolhapur District blanked Thane District 4-0. Striker Samruddhi Katkole also scored a hat-trick with three quick goals in the 34th, 36th and 48th minute, while teammate Sanika Patil scored one in the 22nd minute.
Results: Kolhapur District 4 (Samruddhi Katkole 3, Sanika Patil) beat Thane District 0.
Mumbai District 7 (Sai Sankhe 3, Priyanka Sujesh 2, Mehak Lobo, Ananya Biswas) beat Nashik District 0.
