G.R.Kamat noted screenplay writer of Marathi and Hindi films of 50s to 80s, is no more. He passed away today .Some of his hit Hindi films, as a screenplay writer were ‘Bambai Ka Babu’ ‘Kala Pani(1958), Anita ( 1967), Do Badan, Mera Saya ( 1966), Do Raste ( 1969), Do Chor(1972), Mera gaon Mera Desh(1971), Kachhe Dhage( 1973) ,’Do Premee'(1980) , Basera ( 1981),Pukar( 1983). He was very close to late Raj Khosla and wrote screenplay for most of his films.
Mr. kamat had also written the story of Marathi film ‘Lakhanchi Goshta’ along with well known writer G.D. Madgulkar . Mr. Kamat was editor of Marathi magazines ‘Mauj’ and ‘Satyakatha’. He had also won awards and was conferred with lifetime achievement award. G.R.kamat was married to Marathi actress Rekha.
