Renowned music director and Singer of Hindi and Bengalee films Bappi Lahiri is no more. He passed away yesterday night. He was 69. Born in Jalpaiguri his parents, Aparesh Lahiri and Bansuri Lahiri, were Bengali singers and musicians in classical music and Shyama Sangeet. He was their only child. He was related to Singer late Kishore Kumar.
Bappida, as he was popularly known, began his career in Hindi films with the film ‘Nanha Shikari in 1973. He became popular with his music for films like ‘Disco Dancer’, ‘Namak Halal’,’ ‘Sharabi’, ‘Ghayal’,’Aaj Ka Arjun’, ‘Himmatwala( 1983 & 2013). His last film as a music director was ‘Baaghi-3’ in 2020. Being a singer himself, he rendered his own voice for some of the songs. Bappi Lahiri was active with his well wishers on social media with his posts. His funeral will take place on Thursday after his son’s arrival from USA.
