Rosalin,Diandra set for triple treat

MUMBAi: Agnel Gymkhana Diandra Valladres in women and Rosalin Lewis in girls under-18 after winning their respective 100m sprint yesterday, added the 400m golds in their kitty on the penultimate day of the India Masters Athletics 5-District Track & Field Championships, at the University Stadium here today. Both the Vashi girls created new marks with Diandra clocking 1:00.32 seconds, thus bettering the old mark of 1:02.8 seconds, while Rosalin’s 56.53 seconds eclipsed the previous record of 1:02.3 seconds. “We both are quite confident of pocketing the 200m run tomorrow”, said jubilant Diandra. While Diandra breasted the tape in dominating way, Rosalin just about pipped Nidhi Singh, winner of the 800m event earlier in a terrific finish.
Among others to share the day’s honours today were another Vashi athlete Deepu Devrajan, who added the 400m gold to the 800m he won yesterday in the men’s section and Jyoti Poojary of Dahisar’s VPM Sports Club,winner of 3000m girls under-18 event, put up another fine show clinching the 1500m for her second gold.

WOMEN: 400m: Diandra Valladares (Agnel Gym, Vashi) – 1:00.32 secs. (NMR). 1500m: Akshya Jadav (Seven Star SAA, Thane) – 5:25.134 secs. SHOT PUT: Gauri Bhosale (Seven Star SA, Thane) – 7.85 mts.
GIRLS: U-18: 400m: Rosalin Lewis (Agnel Gym, Vashi) -56.53 secs. (NMR). 1500m: Jyoti Poojary (VPM SC, Dahisar) – 5:44.16 secs. U-16: 1500m: Sakshi Shanbhag (Rising Star SC)- 5:33.0 secs. HIGH JUMP: Rene Desai (VPM SC, Dahisar) – 1.50 mts (NMR).
MEN: 1500m: Deepu Devrajan (Navi Mumbai-Vashi) – 4:20.55 secs DISCUS THROW: Govindkumar Rai (India Masters Athletics) – 46.35 (NMR).
BOYS: U-20:1500m: Nilay Kubal (Seven Star SA, Thane) – 4:31.76 secs. LONG JUMP: Kiran Bhosale (Kreeda Prabodhini, Thane) – 6.45 mts. U-18: 1500m: Rahul Yadav (JSW Sports) – 4:37.65 secs. JAVELIN THROW: Masood Khan (Ryan Int SC, Kandivali)- 38.64 mts.
