‘Rocky Handsome’- An action packed thriller filled with violence

Now days, every new action packed film wants to do better than its previous version. So, John Abraham, who loves to be part of action packed thrillers, has co- produced the latest film ‘Rocky Handsome’ in which he plays the action hero, displaying his skills in martial arts. He seems to have taken training for the same, as it is clearly displayed through his quick reflexes.Rockey handsome Photo slide

Directed by Nishikant Kamat, this action thriller features John Abraham in the title role, while Shruti Haasan( Special appearance) , director Nishikant Kamat himself and Sharad Kelkar appear in crucial prominent roles. Actually, the film is an adaptation of the 2010 Korean film ‘The Man from Nowhere’, but , also seems to have been influenced by 2002 English-German film ‘The Bourne identity’, which was also based on the novel with the same name, written by Robert Ludlum .

Produced by John Abraham Entertainment &  Sunir Khetrapal’s Azure Entertainment, the  story of this film revolves around a man Kabir Ahlwat alias Rocky Handsome, who sets out to take vengeance against drug mafia, after they take away an eight-year-old girl Nayomi (Diya Chalwad), who lives in the neighborhood and with whom he shares a special bond. During his search, he comes across most dangerous people in this trade, including merciless Organ mafia. As the special intelligence officers are already after the drug mafia, they also follow Kabir, whom they initially suspect as a gangster. With lots of gunfights, martial arts and action scenes, we finally see Kabir finishing off all those bad men, to trace little Nayomi.

In the process of exposing such illegal business, the film has turned into a violence filled action thriller. There was no need to show all those inhuman acts carried out by the organ mafia. No wonder, the film has received ‘A’ certification. Two item numbers in the form cabaret dances, have been combined with some happenings, in this action filled story. However, the film has failed to show the people, behind killing of Kabir’s wife and those who attack him, at the same time . You just get a hint that his own department people, were opposed to him, perhaps, for his uncovering some secrets. Music and background music of this film, are well suited to this type of film. Shanker Raman’s cinematography is excellent.

John Abraham is at his best, playing the lead role of an action hero. Director Nishikant Kamat himself plays the main villain in this film and he has played his part well. There is good support coming from other artistes like Sharad kelkar, Sanjay Khapre, Uday Tikekar, Abhijeet Chavan & others. Shruti Hasan has limited role, but the little girl Diya Chalwad  has performed very well. The film may impress all John Abraham fans and action film lovers; but, it is filled with violence.
