Roaring Panthers, with three wins and a loss to DS Warriors, topped the 5-team league in the 2nd MCF Premier Table Tennis League, hosted by Mandpeshwar Civic Federation at their sports c0mplex here today. Incidentally, Akira’s Dragons too ended the league phase with identical three wins and a loss to Roaring Panthers to emerge second best (on the basis of number of games won and lost) while DS Warriors with two wins and two losses finished third. As per their format table topper go straight into the final,while second and third-placed teams will fight for a place in the final.

Incidentally, Roaring Panthers’ captain Akshay Gogari remained unbeaten, throughout the league phase, but in their penultimate encounter with DS Warriors, his teammates could not sustain the winning tempo as they went down 3-4. But they later compensated by beating Premji’s 4-3 in their final league tie to top the table and go straight into the title round.
However, Akira’s Dragons, after trailing 0-2 against Omtex, struck a purple patch through their captain Ameya Bhanushali and Siddhi Kolekar, who fought a tough battle of attrition before they claimed the double tie against Sudhir Kidav and Kunal Patel to bring their side back on rails. And the icing on the cake was provide by Swayam Ibrampurkar, who thrashed Sohan Nirke to end with 4 wins and 3 losses- same as the table topper Roaring Panthers, but had to settle for the second spot on the basis of number of games won and lost. While DS Warriors, with two wins and identical losses, finished third. The second and third placed teams will now battle out with the winner taking on Roaring Panthers for the coveted title.
