Thanks to two centuries recorded by Abhinav Singh, last year’s finalists Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) regained the Khar Gymkhana’s B. Khichadia suburban schools cricket trophy, beating IES English (Bandra) in the final. Abhinav Singh with scores of 106 and 143 emerged top scorer with 316 runs in the competition and was adjudged the best batsman of the season.
The corresponding award for the bowling went to Dinesh Pushpak of Kandivali’s Oxford Public. He was the only bowler to capture five-wicket haul twice (5-52, and 5-63) to carry home the best bowler prize. While IES New English’s Palash Pawar took the honours in the best all-rounder category. Apart from scoring 260 runs (with 102 being his best), he had figures of 5 for 52 with his spinners.
