Rizvi College emerged worthy champions as they registered a massive 75-run victory against KES Shroff Junior College in the final of the 1st MCA Junior College cricket tournament 2022-2023, for the Late Saqib Rizvi Memorial Trophy and played at the MCA Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana ground, Kandivali on Thursday. The tournament is sponsored by Rizvi Education Trust.
Choosing to bat first, Rizvi College piled up a healthy total of 171 runs for the loss of eight wickets from their quota of 20 overs. The Rizvi College innings was built on the modest contributions from Nutan Goel 32 runs, Prem Naik 31 runs, Awais Khan 28 runs and Aryan Shejule 22 runs, while KES Shroff’s left-arm spinner Zenith Sachdev 3 for 22 was the most successful bowler.
In reply, KES Shroff Junior College batsmen failed miserably to score runs as they lost wickets at regular intervals and were restricted to 96 for 9 wickets from their stipulated 20 overs. The only batter to get a decent knock was Pranav Sawant who scored 26 runs. Rizvi College’s Pranay Rana was mainly responsible for KES Shroff College batting collapse as he claimed 4 for just 12 runs. His teammate Mohd Dakhani Ram took 2 wickets for 18 runs to secure the win.
