Rishabh Thakkar of Otters Club, winner of the first leg, started off on a bright note, winning both his Group-A matches of the Senior Billiards event of the BSAM Maharashtra State Senior Snooker & Billiards Selection (leg-2) Championship 2018, played at the Bombay Gymkhana billiards room.

In the first match, Thakkar got the better of Malabar Hill Club’s Raajeev Sharma 3-1 (100-94, 100-95, 53-100 and 100-13) in the best-of-5-frame race-to-100 points match. He later returned to the table and blanked Mithil Shinde of Thane 3-0 (100-36, 100-18 and 100-37) to record his second successive win and enhance his chances of progressing to the quarter-finals.
However, Sharma bounced back strongly winning both his remaining matches in the four-player group. He first raced past Vignesh Sanghvi of Pune 3-0 (100-60, 100-38 and 100-53) and later prevailed over Thane’s Shinde by an identical 3-0 (100-57, 100-61 and 100-17) scoreline.
Former champion, Arun Agrawal of Matunga Gym also begin with a win when he edged past young Kreishh Gurbaxani of Khar Gymkhana 3-1 (100-18, 100-95, 86-100 and 100-12) in a Group-A encounter. Gurbaxani, who had lost to Thakkar in the final of the first leg suffered another defeat losing tamely 0-3 to Maharashtra state junior No. 1 Rayaan Razmi in another Group-A match.
