Riana Bhoota wins triple crown at Thane District Ranking TT

The 3rd Thane District Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2022 organized by Table Tennis Club Palava was held at Lakeshore Greens, Palava City from 2nd to 6th August 2022. Looking at the popularity of this game at the ongoing Commonwealth 2022, the tournament received very good response, with 400+ particiants from the age group 6+ to 80+ years. Though this tournament was conducted under the auspices of Thane District Table Tennis Association, it was the wonderful venue that made a big difference, with the team Table Tennis Club Palava for making this tournament a grand success.

Though Zubin Taraporewala and Shreya Deshpande won the Men’s and Women’s Individual championships, it was Riana Bhoota who invited all the attention, winning the triple crown by winning the three events namely , Girls Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 without dropping a single game. This is the second time this year, she has won a triple crown.  There was 20% increased Prize money for girls in the tournament, as the organisers not only believed in equality for girls but to support them above boys. Besides the prize money of Rs. 75,000,  Prizes, medals, Trophies, Certificates were also presented to all Merit holders of the tournament.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by chief Guest Shri Vikram Ranawat (owner Ranawat Diamonds Factory), TTC Palava President Shri Shivram Iyer Ji, the Committee members, parents, and coaches of Thane. Details of the merit holders of this event are as follows :

Special Prizes of the event were

  1. Best Player Female – Riana Bhoota – She hit triple crown by winning U13, U15 & U17 Category as winner. Now she will be travelling to Jordan to Play International tournament’s bringing name and glory to the district of thane and country. 
    1. Best Player Male – Siddharth Gubbala – An entertainer and looks amazing as prospect in coming time. He stood runner up in Boys U17 Category and Semifinalist in Boys U15 category.
