Hard-hiting Reagan Albuquerque and exciting junior Jash Modi are set to dominate the men’s singles event in the MCF-TSTTA-4-Star District Ranking table tennis tournament, which gets underway at Borivali’s Mandpeshwar Civic Federation Sports Complex from 9 am onwards on Wednesday.
Lanky Jignesh Rahatwal, who has quite a fruitful outing in the Khelo India University Games, however, is likely to pose them some problems. In the women’s section, juniors like Anannya Chande and Sana D’Souza, who have been making waves so far are sure to make a mark in the senior cateogory. Former renowned Junior Girls player Siddhi Kolekar will be making her comeback to competitive TT after almost 6 years, through this tournament in Women’s section. Siddhi has taken off from her job for a day, as MCF is her home ground.
Almost 450 participants in various age groups will be seen in action in this 5-day event. The highlight of this tournament is that 100 entries have been received only in Men’s 40+ Veterans’ event. The salient feature of the event will be that all the age groups, right from the men’s, women’s singles as well as boys and girls in various age groups, will be divided into groups and will play in the league format before the top two from the respective groups will make the knock out stage.
