Sixteen leading Elite and Super Division teams of the MDFA Leagues will fight for the top honours in the 110th edition of the RCF Nadkarni Cup football tournament to be organized by RCF Sports Club under the aegis of the Mumbai District Football Association and to be played at the picturesque RCF Colony ground, Chember starting from Wednesday, February 8 to Monday, February 20, 2017.
RCF SC is organizing this tournament for the 10th successive year at their ground in Chembur.
Besides the glittering trophies, the tournament offers a cash fund of Rs one lakh to the champions and the runners-up will be presented with a cash award of Rs 60,000. In addition the ‘Best player’ of the tournament stands to gain a purse of Rs 10,000.
Last year’s champions Mumbai FC will not be defending their title as they are busy participating in the I-League. Air India, who had finished runners-up in the last edition, will open their campaign against GM Sports Club in the opening round on Wednesday.
MDFA Elite (Harwood) League champions ONGC, placed in the same half of the draw with Air India, start their campaign against Dena Bank on Thursday.
The Elite Division clubs in the fray include, ONGC, Air India, Western Railway, Mumbai Customs, Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Karnatak SA, PIFA Colaba, Kenkre FC and the Super Division teams are Reserve Bank of India, HDFC, Century Rayon, Dena Bank, Central Railway, Mumbai FC U-19 and GM Sports Club.
