Ravindra, Divya and Manushree felicitated for their fine show


It was a day to remember for Ravindra Kotian, India No.1 in youth boys, Manushree Patil, India ranked 1 in sub-junior girls and Divya Deshpande , ranked No 6 in the country , all from the Mumbai Suburbs. They were felicitated with cash awards jointly by MSDTTA and MCDTTA alongwith hosts of other performers from city and suburbs during 2015 season at Khar Gymkhana here last night.

Lanky Ravindra, the best in the country in the youth boys, won his maiden men’s singles title in the Maharashtra State championships and was also instrumental in Mumbai Suburban team winning gold in the men’s junior boys sections. He was also part of the Indian team , which won gold in the SAF Games.

Divya Deshpande, has been among the top 10 women players in the country for the last couple of years. She clinched state women’s singles title. However, it was her maiden success at the state epvent. She also represented the country in the Commonwealth Games, in which India won the women’s silver medal.

However, the cake of the day went to tall Manushree Patil, , who has shown tremendous improvement last season and she capped the season by bagging triple crown in the state championships. She won the youth, junior and sub-junior girls singles golds as well as played a stellar role in MSD team winning the team title.

For Mumbai Suburban district, it was a fantastic year. They ended with golds in the men, junior and sub-junior girls and sub-junior boys as well as the cadet boys section.

Among other notable performers felicitated at the national and international events were Mudit Dani and Shrusti Haleangadi. Mudit had won ITTF Global junior circuit singles title, while Shrusti had emerged best in the South-Asian Champioships, winning individual gold as well as team gold.
