Rain plays spoilsport


Sudden showers accompanied by thunder and lightning forced the abandonment of the opening match between former champions Western Railway and Union Bank of India in the MHAL Super League 2017-2018 at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on Friday.

Both Western and Union Bank were engaged in an exciting battle for supremacy but midway through the first half a steady drizzle was followed  by heavy rain and fading light. The match officials and the MHAL officials decided to abandon the which was 20 minutes old.

The match officials informed the two teams the match will be replayed, but only for the remaining period of 50 minutes.

On Saturday, Indian Navy take on Bombay Republicans at 2.30 pm and later at 4.00pm Central Railway meet Maharashtra State Police.
