Raigad Fort has a special significance in the history. The great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj built this fort and made his capital in 1674, when he was crowned the King of Maratha Kingdom. This fort, later developed into the Maratha Empire. The Government of Maharashtra is now organising a festival between 21st January to 24th January 2016, at Pachad, which is at the foothills of Raigad Fort. This is the first time, a festival is being organised at the Fort, in Maharashtra, to remind all the people, about the Valour of Shivaji Maharaj the great .
Briefing about this festival, Mr. Viond Tawde, Cultural Minister of Maharashtra said, “This Raigad festival will bring this place on the tourist map. We have arranged lots of cultural programmes for entertainment, so that the visitors can get an idea of the history of this fort. About 1000 artistes will perform during the event.” Well Known art director Mr. Chandrakant Desai , who is behind this concept, was also present at the press conference.
The festival will be inaugurated on 21st January 2016, by chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Devendra Fadavnis, when other dignitaries like Mr. Anant Gite, Mr.Sudhir Munguttiwar, Mr. Prakash Mehta, Mr. Bharat Gogavale, Mr.Jayant Patil,& Mr. Sunil tatkare will also be present.
