PV Sindhu stands tall; storms into finals of Rio Olympics

It was a great moment for India’s Pusarla Venkata Sindhu and all Indians watching her semi finals match live at Rio Olympics, when she ensured her God or Silver medal  few minutes ago, after beating Nozomi Okuhara  of Japan in straight games. But, watching her wonderful performance, while beating her  2nd seeded opponent, there are big expectations from her in the finals. Hope her dream for Gold medal will come true, the way she is playing now.

In a well contested first game, Sindhu took comfortable 4 points lead at 12-8 and maintained it for next six points with 14-10.However, Nozomi fought well to recover and reduced the margin , by coming closer at 17-18 and 18-19. But, at this stage Sindhu used her skills well to win this game narrowly at 21-19.

In the second game Sindhu took an early lead 3-0, but lost 5 points in a row, only to recover and level the scores at 5-5 and then at 7-7. But, thereafter there was no stopping for her, as she found a comfortable lead at 15-10 and then never looked back, to beat her opponent 21-10, scoring six points in a row. This was a very big win for Sindhu, as she will be playing finals of Olympics for the first time. Sindhu will now play against world No. 1 Carolina Marin in the finals.
