Khar Gymkhana, thanks to Priyank Shetty (45) and Akshay Powale (31) eased past Rizvi Sports Club by seven wickets to enter the semifinals of the Gordhandas Shield suburban cricket tournament, played on 20-over basis at their ground at Khar here today.
Batting first, Rizvi batsmen did well to score 140 in the allotted 20 overs with Shoaib Siddique being their top scorer with 45. In reply, Khar Gymkhana lost three wickets, but Priyank and Akshay batted sensibly to see their side through without any further hiccups.
In other quarterfinal ties, Our Cricket Club hit up the highest score of the day – 196 – and then went on to restrict BRD Cricket Club to 138. Yogi Cricket Cricket Club after being restricted Jolly Friends to 143 for six, did well to chase down the target with six wickets to spare. Omkar Gule made an unbeaten half century. Opting to bat first, Kandivali C.A. hit up a formidable score of 176 against Kansara CC, who fell short of their target with six wickets in hand.
