Prithvi, Smriti, Aditi & Diya bag SJAM awards


Prithvi Shaw, the latest heartthrob in Mumbai cricket, was awarded the Junior Cricketer of the year award, while   Smriti Mandhana, from Sangli, who was one of the star players  for Indian women cricket team which finished runners-up in the World Cup championships held in England,  was adjudged  the Woman Cricketer of the year at the  Sports Journalists’ Association of Mumbai (SJAM) Golden Jubilee Awards 2017 function held at Bombay Gymkhana today.

The awards were presented by Mr Vinod Tawde,  State Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare. Another cricketer from Mumbai, veteran allrounder Abhishek Nayar was awarded the trophy for being the Ranji Trophy Cricketer of the year award. Maharashatra batsman Kedar Jadhav, was chosen as  the international cricketer of the year award.

Mumbai’s ace swimmer Aditi Dhumatkar, who had set the pool on fire with her fantastic show  while golds in the  50 and 100m free style gold medals at the 70th Glenmark Senior National Aquatic Championship at Ranchi last year and also the 200m freestyle silver medal bagged the .  Women sportsperson of the year award. Mumbai’s Rayna Saldhana (swimming) and Diya Chitale (Table Tennis), bagged the Junior Sportswoman of the year award.

The winners of SJAM Golden Jubilee Annual Awards- 2017  were::

 

Sportsman of the year: Vidit Santosh Gujrathi  (Chess, Nashik) and Akash Chikte (Goalkeeper, Pune: Indian Men’s Hockey team)

Sportswoman of the year: Aditi Dhumatkar (Swimming, Mumbai).

 

Junior Sportsman of the year: Abhimanyu Puranik (Chess, Pune).

 

Junior Sportswoman of  the year: Rayna Saldhana (Swimming, Mumbai) and Diya Chitale  (Table Tennis, Mumbai).

 

Sportsman of the year – Indian Games: Prashant More (Carrom, Mumbai).

 

Cricketer of the year: Kedar Jadhav (Pune).

 

Ranji Trophy Cricketer of the year: Abhishek Nayar (Mumbai)

 

Woman cricketer of the year : Smriti Mandhana, Sangli.

 

Junior Cricketer of the year: Prithvi Shaw (Mumbai).
