Prasad,Mayur sparkle in Mumbai Police’s win


Last year’s finalist Mumbai Police Cityriders  opened their campaign , beating Bandra Heroes by four wickets in an exciting last over finish on the opening day of the Mitsui Shoji T20 League   -2019 at Police Gymkhana (Marine Lines) here today.

Batting first,Bandra Heroes did well to hit up a formidable 191 for five of the allotted 20 overs. Onkar Jadhav  top-scored with 76 with four fours and three sixes’.  While other major contributions came through the bats of Kaustubh Thakue (4o ) and Khizar Dafedar (38). Yogesh Jagtap  bagged 2/24  for the Police outfit,

 

Chasing 192 foe win, the Police Cityriders lost their opener in the second ball of the opening over withut his account.. But then Prasad Powar (76- 6×6) and Mayur Sanap 78 (7×4, 3×6) put on 130 runs for the second wicket that paved the way for their win. However, the spin and medium pace attack of Akarshit Gomel and Khizar Dafedar  bowled pretty tight   to take the game to the last over.

 

Earlier,  as a part of the inauguration, Mitsui XI played a 20-over  match against  SJAM Media XI. Thanks to  Tausd Rizvi ‘s 46 with seven fours and two sixes. The Journalist made 124 for six. In reply, Mitsui XI  facing tight bowling by Ashwin Ferro (3/24) and Taus Rizvi (2/24) managed to win by 2 wickets.

 

 Brief scores: Bandra Heroes 191/5 (Onkar Jadhav 58, Kaustubh Thakur40, Khizar  Dafedar 38) lost to Mumbai Police Cityriders 196/6 (Prasad Powar 76, Mayur Sanap 78; Akarshit Goel 2/27, Khizar  Dafedar  2/34) by 4 wkts.

SJAM Media XI 124/6 (Tausd Rizvi 46 (7×4, 2×6), HaritnJoshi 20; Prajwal Rai 4/15) lost to Mitsui XI  125’8 (Ayaz Khan 33, Aditya Giri 21; Ashwin Ferrao  3/24, Taus Rizvi 2/24).
