Evergreen Prakash Kelkar was in great form on the opening day of the 2nd IMPTTA – Maharashtra Masters State Ranking Table Tennis tournament played at Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul, Vile Parle. Playing for his team Kalidas Sports Club, Mulund, Prakash played the lead role, winning all his matches in the Men’s 59+ team event.
In the finals Prakash Kelkar partnering Avinash Kothari scored a 3-0 victory over Like Minded team represented by Purshottam Markad, Nitish Kumar Dhakappa and Prashant Machve. In the finals, he received good support from his partner Avinash, who not only won his singles match but also combined well with Prakash to win the crucial doubles match.

In the Men’s 39+ Men’s team semi finals, when reports last came in, Team Suraj, Kiran & Naveen had beaten Team Gurcharan Singh, while team Sameer Bhate had beaten team Vishal Yadav. The finals between team Suraj and Team Sameer will be played tomorrow.
The tournament has attracted more than 200 entries. Free breakfast, nutritious lunch and tea arrangements were made by the organisers. The tournament is being held in honour of Shri Prakash Kelkar, eight times National Masters’ Champ; who will be felicitated tomorrow by chief guest Hon. Shri. Sunil Godase, Officer on Special Duty ( BMC). Shri R.C. Shah, Retd. Divisional Jt. Registrar( Govt. of Maharashtra) will be the guest of honour. The tournament is being covered live on youtube.
