The top-seeded players, Prajwal Tewari and Harshit Bhangera, both claimed the boys’ and girls’ under-12 singles crowns respectively in the MSLTA – Yonex Sunrise Wodehouse Gymkhana All-India Ranking Talent Series Tennis Tournament – 2016 and played at the gymkhana’s tennis courts.

In the girls’ final, Harshit was in total control against Ruma Gaikwad who proved no match. Dominating play from the start, Harshit dropped just one game in the entire match, and cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
In the boys’ final, Prajwal also enjoyed an easy outing against Manas Dhamne who was not upto the mark and lacked the confidence. Prajwal encountered some resistance but once he settled down he romped to a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Earlier in semi-final action, Prajwal outplayed Aum Parikh 9-2, while Manas defeated Siddh Patel by an identical 9-2 scoreline.
In the women’s penultimate round, Harshit brushed aside the challenge from Ishanya Hatankar wining 9-5, while Ruma outshone Saaz Tandel recording a facile 9-1 win.
Results – Girls’ under-12 – semi-finals: Harshit Bangera bt Ishanya Hatankar 9-5; Ruma Gaikwad bt Saaz Tandel 9-1.
Finals: Harshit Bangera bt Ruma Gaikwad 6-0, 6-1.
Boys’ under-12 – semifinals: Prajwal Tewari bt Aum Parikh 9-2; Manas Dhamne bt Siddh Patel 9-2.
Final: Prajwal Tewari bt Manas Dhamne 6-2, 6-2.
