Poinsur Gymkhana Inter-School cricket tournament
Former champions Anjuman Islam (CST), thanks to fine knock of 65 by Manoj Prajapati, defeated Yashodham (Goregaon) by 100 runs to enter the quarterfinals of the Poinsur Gymkhana Inter-School cricket tournament at their ground at Kandivali today.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Anjuman top order batsmen made substantial contribution with Manoj Prajapati top-scoring with 65 with 11 fours as they hit up 215 off 30 overs. In reply, the Yashodham boys after given a good start by openers Ryan Thomas and Abhinay Pilankar, who put on 65 runs, failed miserably against the double spin attack of Yogendra Awasthi and Naseem Khan and could muster only 115 for nine off the allotted 30 overs.
In another tie, Thane’s Vasant Vihar bowled out Sardar Vallabh Patel school for 57, but lost three wickets before they achieved their target.
