DECA (D’Assisi Ex-Students Charitable Association) made a winning start defeating Mumbai Strikers by a narrow 1-0 margin in the opening Group-X Super Division play-off match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) league 2015-2016, and played at the Poisur Gymkhana ground, Kandivali on Monday.
After a barren first half, Manish Poojari struck the all-important winning goal to secure DECA’s win and the full three points.
Later in the day, Maharashtra State Police scored once in each half to overcome Millat FC 2-0 in a Group-Y play-off encounter. Jitesh Pardeshi and Hikmat Dembre were on target with a goal each for the policemen.
There will be no Super Division match at this venue on Tuesday. The next round of matches will be played on Wednesday, February 24.
