Pivot Poojan Ajmera (18) alongwith Darienne Nazareth (14) and Sakshi Arora (10) played a major role to get past Dombivli’s strong outfit Agradnya Shala 53-45 to breeze into women’s finals of the Mastan YMCA Basketball tournament, hosted by Bombay YMCA’s Physical Education Department at their floodlit courts at Agripada last night. They take on Dominic Savio, an easy 30-17 winners over Life Changers in the other lacklustre semifinal.
Action in the women’s tie-Bandra YMCA’s Sakshi Arora (15) jumps to prevent Dombivli’s Agradnya from scoring in the Mastan YMCA Basketball tournament.
The Bandra YMCA-Agradnya tie was a pretty thrilling affair with the Bandra players holding a slight edge over their fancied rivals. At one stage, they were 35-33 at the end of the third quarter. But the last quarter was most absorbing one as midway they were tied at 45-all before the girls from Bandra struck quick baskets through Pooja and Sakshi to see them through.
