PIFA Sports & Karnatak SA score comfortable victories


PIFA Sports (Colaba) FC and Karnatak Sporting Association, both recorded wins by comfortable margins in their respective Elite Division (Private League) matches of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Friday.

In the first match, PIFA Sports suffered an early setback, but recovered to defeat Mumbai Strikers SC 4-1. Mumbai Strikers rocked the PIFA Sports citadel with Keval Savla scoring the opening goal in the sixth minute. But, a determined PIFA Sports gallantly fought back and their prolific scorer Varad Ayare scored twice in as many minutes in the 63rd and 65th minute to put his team in the lead. Later, Austin D’Souza and Deepak Pal scored a goal each in the additional period to round-off the winning tally.

Later in the evening, Karnatak SA rode on the twin strikes from dynamic goal-scorer Sanchit Singh to overcome Millat FC by a clear 3-1 margin. Pragnesh Solanki found the back of the net in the 15th minute to give KSA the lead before Millat FC restored parity through Rishon Sam’s striker in the 29th minute.

However, six minutes later KSA regained the lead with Singh his first and the team’s second goal. Midway through the second session Singh once again hit the target in the 64th minute to seal Karnatak’s convincing win.

In an exciting Second Division encounter, Bhavesh Soccer Foundation (BSF) pulled off a fighting 3-2 win against a determined Somaiya Sports Academy. Bhavesh SF scored their goals through the efforts of Rohan Belkade, Sujal Patil and Omkar Kochare, while Suny Verma and Yash Obhan struck the goal for Somaiya SA.

Results – Second Div: Bhavesh SF 3 (Rohan Belkade, Sujal Patil, Omkar Kochare) beat Somaiya SA 2 (Suny Verma, Yash Obhan).

Rudra SSY 0 drew with SG5 Bharat FC 0

Oranje FC 5 (Shubham Navelkar 2, Arjun Silwal, Pranjal Yadav, Aayushman Singh) beat IIT Powai ‘B’ 0.

Elite Div: PIFA Sports (Colaba) FC 4 (Varad Ayare 2, Austin D’Souza, Deepak Pal) beat Mumbai Strikers SC 1 (Keval Savla).

Karnatak SA 3 (Sanchit Singh 2, Pragnesh Solanki) beat Millat FC 1 (Rishon Sam).
