WIFA Women’s football
PIFA (Premier Indian Football Academy) showed good understanding and excellent teamwork as they breezed to a facile 6-0 win against UPSA (United Pune Soccer Association) in a Group-A league match of the Western India Football Association (WIFA) conducted Women’s Football Championship 2018, played at the Cooperage Football Stadium.
Leading PIFA’s charge to the big win was strikers Signorina S. and Sanam Rathod, both scoring a brace of goals each, while Neelu Tirkey and Ambika Dangne contributed with one goal apiece to round off the winning tally.
In another match, Football School of India scored twice in the second session as they rallied to hold FC Kolhapur City to a fighting 2-2 draw. Pratiksh Mithari scored both the goals in the first half to give the Kolhapur side a 2-0 lead. But, Football School fought back and scored through Pooja Dhamal and Karishma Vazirani to salvage the draw.
Results – Group-A: PIFA 6 (Signorina 17′ & 31′, Sanam Rathod 19′ & 76′, Neelu Tirkey 7′, and Ambika Dangne 79′) beat United Poona Sports Academy (UPSA) 0.
Group-B: Football School of India 2 (Pooja Dhamal 55′ and Karishma Vazirani 80+3′) drew with FC Kolhapur City 2 (Pratiksh Mithari 33′ & 43′).
