Siddharth Parikh was on a roll and notched three successive wins to finish at the top of Group-B and qualify for the pre-quarter-finals of the Chembur Gymkhana Handicap Billiards Tournament 2018, and played at the Chembur Gymkhana billiards hall.
The mercurial cueist Parikh (-500 handicap) was in great nick and warmed up nicely with a close win against Raj Khandwal (-165) of Cricket Club of India by a narrow 200-188 points margin.
Later, Parikh who was still in the process of fine tuning his game managed to tame Nikhil Lalwani (-40) winning by a comprehensive 200-66 points difference and finally got flowing and overpowered home contender Loukic Pathare (-275) 200-26 scoreline.
The versatile Parikh topped the group and along with Khandwala who finished second progressed to the knockout round.
Meanwhile, Dhvaj Haria also playing with the same -500 handicap compiled three century breaks of 144, 116 and 111, besides multiple half century efforts to put it across Rishabh Kumar (-250) of Bombay Gymkhana and romp to a 200-145 victory. Haria who finished with an all-win record claimed the top spot in the group ahead of Baikirao Pacharne of Bombay Gymkhana and they both advanced to the next round.
Dhruv Sitwala (-500) also registered his third win defeating V. Subramanian (-350) of Matunga Gymkhana 200-40 in Group-C. He along with Sunil Jain qualified for the knockout round.
Seasoned campaigners Devendra Joshi and Ashok Shandilya also progressed to the next round.
