Mihir Palande and Malhar Kulkarni registered contrasting victories in men’s singles first round matches of the 2nd Maharashtra Senior State Selection Badminton Tournament 2016 and played at the Goregaon Sports Club on Wednesday.
While Palande took the easy route by demolishing Nikhil Pethkar 21-3, 21-2, Kulkarni after dropping the opening game produced a solid fight back and won the next two games to put it across Apoorva Javadekar, winning at 13-21, 21-17, 21-16.
Harsh Sheth also faced quite a stiff challenge from Bhavik Behrani before pulling through in straight games at 21-11, 23-21 to also advance to the second round.
