Otter Club’s Kiaan Kaple set the swimming pool on fire with stupendous performance as he shattered four meet records in the GMAAA Annual Open senior and lower age group meet held at Goregaon’s Ozone swimming pool yesterday.
Kiaan triumphed in the 50m Free Style, 50m Back stroke, 50m Breast stroke nd 50m Butterfly events in the Group V (Age 7-9years). In the three of the four records, he bettered favourite’s Ozone’s Daksh Shah’s last year’s timing.
In the corresponding girls section, it was Pahel Shah from Vile Parle’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Sankul who shared the day’s honours, by setting new marks in the 50m back stroke, 50 Breast stroke and 50m frees style events.
In the women’s category, Khar Gymkhana’s youngster Avantika chavan, making her debut in the senior women’s section just pipped CCI’s Alefiya Dhansura in the 50m free style event, but Alefiya redeemed herself by winning gold in the 200m Free style, outclassing Khar Gymkhana’s Zara Bakshi.
While in the men’s category, it was Deepak Patil from Police Swimming Pool,who ended with a double , claimi gold in the 50m and 100m Breast strokes, at the expense of Khaiz Gheewala from Vidyavihar’s Somaiya Sport Academy. Another PSP boy Om Satam debuted in the senior categorty by clinching gold in the 200m Free style event. And Khar Gymkhana’s Nimesh Muley,, who made clean sweep of all the six golds in the men’s section in a n earlier meet took gold in the 50m free style at the expense of Om Satam.
The record-breakers were : BOYS Group V (7-9yrs): : Kiyaan Kapale (Otters Club) – 4 NMR. Girls Group V: Pahel Shah (CSMSS) – 3 NMR.
