The fight for the top honours gets hotter and will witness some absorbing contests as the knockout (pre-quarter-final) rounds of the Z3 Zodiac Clothing & Otters Club sponsored Otters-BSAM Mumbai Snooker League 2018 commences at the Otters Club, Billiards Room from Friday.
Khar Gym’s team KG ‘A’, captained by former two-time Asian champion Yasin Merchant will play against NIA ‘Cut Hook Miss’ in the opening pre-quarters tie on Friday. In the other last 16 matches on Friday, JVPG ‘White Lions’ clash with BG ‘Phantoms’ and NSCI ‘RIDERS’ meet MHCL ‘Madcaps’.
Defending champions and hosts Otters ‘Rockets’ will take on Dadar Club ‘Punters’ in a last 16 match on Saturday. Last year’s runner-up ECC ‘Elfies Hornets’ will face off against strong contenders CCI ‘X-Men’ in what promises to be an interesting match, on Tuesday.
Three teams each from Dadar Club (‘Punters’, Stalwarts’ & Fighters) and Khar Gymkhana (KG ‘A’, KG ‘B’ & KG ‘C’) will feature in the pre-quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, ECC (Elfies Stars & Elfies Hornets), Garware Club House (Strikers & GST Snooker Team), JVPG (Snooker Legends & White Lions), MIG (Monks & Saints), MHCL (Matka Kings & Madcaps), NSCI (Riders & Gunners) and Radio Club (Fusion & Tigers), all have two each competing in the last 16 round.
The champions stand to pocket the top cash award of Rs 75,000 and the runners-up will receive Rs 45,000. The losing semi-finalists will get Rs 20,000 each and the losing quarter-finalists would also receive Rs 10,000 each.
