Opener Mamata slams unbeaten ton

Chandigarh, riding on Mamata Kothiyal’s brilliant unbeaten knock of 102 not out, scored a resounding 90-run victory against Uttarakhand Divas in the second round league match of the Optimum Nutrition ‘Women’s Premier T20 League’, organised by Vile Parle Cultural Centre, with support from the Women’s Cricket Association of India, and played at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana grounds, here on Wednesday.

Batting first, the opening pair of Divya Sharma and Mamata Kothiyal put together a mammoth partnership of 143 runs for the first wicket to set the foundation for the Chandigarh side to set up a challenging total of 183 for the loss of just two wickets from their 20 overs. In their chase, Uttarakhand buckled under the pressure and were bowled out for a paltry 93 runs in 18 overs. Ruchi starred with the ball for Chandigarh, taking 2 for 7. Chandigarh Chandnees qualified for the final by virtue of their second win in the group today. In the final, Chandigarh will face Madhya Pradesh Magicians who also won both their matches in their group.

In another inconsequential game, Uttar Pradesh Shernees recorded a comfortable 5-wicket win over Maharashtra Master Blasters.
