On the second day, Maharashtra Men and Women score wins


In the 55th National Men’s and Women’s Kho-Kho Tournament in Osmanabad on Monday the men’s and women’s teams of Maharashtra continued their winning streak by winning their respective group matches.  

This competition is organized by Osmanabad District Kho-kho Association with the approval of Indian Kho-kho Federation and Maharashtra Kho-kho Association. The competition will continue till November 24th at Tuljabhawani District Sports Complex.

In the men’s match, Maharashtra defeated Uttarakhand 17-7 keeping 1:10 min spare. Maharashtra’s Ramji Kashyap and Prateek Waikar (2:40 minutes of defense and 1 point each), Akshay Masal (2:10 minutes of defense and 3 points), Laxman Gavas (2:10 minutes of defense and 2 points), Suraj Shinde (2 :20 min.Sakranshan) and Gajanan Shengal (3 points) gave Maharashtra an innings win showing glimpses of their brilliant game and gave Maharashtra a convincing victory. The defeated Uttarakhand’s player Shashikant performed well.

In women’s section, Maharashtra defeated Arunachal Pradesh 18-3 by 15 points. Maharashtra’s Priyanka Ingle (5 points), Snehal Jadhav (unbeaten 2 minutes of defense and 2 points), Reksha Birajdar (2:40 minutes of defense), Preeti Kale and Shreya Sangre (2:10 minutes of defense each), Reshma Rathod ( 4 points), Dipali Rathod (3 points), Preksha Sutar and Pooja Fargate (2 points each) have done it. Prema performed well for the defeated Arunachal Pradesh team.

In another women’s match, Goa thrashed the Border Security Force 18-4 by 14 points. Kashi Gaonkar of Goa 4:20 m. Defense and 3 points, Ashwini Velip 4:30 min. And 2 points, Deepti Velip not out 4:30 min. played a valuable role in the victory of Goa. Ashwini Chavan of the defeated Border Security Force fought alone.

In the men’s match, Vidarbha secured a one-sided victory over a weak Jammu and Kashmir 23-8. While Akshay Umate, Dilraj Singh Sengar, Raj Sisodia played well, none of the players from Jammu and Kashmir could make a special impact.
