Producing strong, impressive performances, top seeds Omi Mehta and Neel Joglekar in convincing fashion clinched the girls’ and boys’ singles crowns respectively in the MSLTA-Wodehouse Maharashtra State Ranking Under-10 Tennis Tournament, played at the Wodehouse Gymkhana.
In the girls’ final, a dominant number one seed Omi quashed the challenge from second seed Akakansha Agnihotri coasting to a 4-0, 4-1 victory with plenty to spare and emerge champion.
The boys’ final also went on similar lines as the top-seeded Neel Joglekar was in total control and dropped just two games en route to an authoritative 4-2, 4-0 triumph over unseeded Aarav Mehta without much ado.
Earlier in the semi-final round, Omi blanked fifth seed Juhi Kale 6-0 and Akakansha fought off a strong challenge from fourth seed Avani Chitale 6-4.
In the boys semi-final rounds, Neel easily prevailed over Karan Rawat 6-1 and Aarav scored a shock win against third Samarth Sahita pulling through at 6-4.
